Born in Tehran and based in Paris, Ali Mahdavi is one of the key figures of contemporary glamour. Having graduated from the cole nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris with the unanimous recognition of the jury, as well as from leading artistic fashion schools in Paris and London, he began his career in the studio of Thierry Mugler as a fashion designer, and later became known as an “ambassador of glamour,” working with the major fashion houses and leading figures of world culture. His visual language is a cult of beauty, inspired by the Hollywood lighting of the 1930s–1950s. He invented his own lamp and is rightfully considered a master of light.
