Tyler Hubby is a distinguished filmmaker, film editor, and photographer based in Echo Park, Los Angeles. With a career spanning over two decades, he has established himself as a central figure in the documentary film landscape, having edited more than 30 features and series. His notable editing credits include the picaresque biography The Devil and Daniel Johnston, the punk rock documentary Bad Brains: A Band in DC, and the Peabody Award-winning television special For My Country. Tyler Hubby made his feature-length directorial debut with Tony Conrad: Completely in the Present, a deep dive into the life of the iconoclastic multi-media artist, which premiered to critical acclaim and was named one of the best films of the year by Artforum. His educational background at the San Francisco Art Institute, where he studied under George Kuchar, laid the foundation for his subversive and atmospheric visual style. Beyond filmmaking, Hubby maintains a prolific photography practice focused on portraiture and studio-based fine art, with work published in magazines such as Artillery and Los Angeles Magazine.
