SUAVEART: Research-Based Curatorial Institution and Cultural Platform

SUAVEART is a research-based curatorial institution that concentrates on the cultural values bridging art and daily life. Established formally in 2015, the organization has roots dating back to 2008 through long-term engagement in Southeast Asian cultural exchanges. SUAVEART operates as an independent art and culture platform dedicated to curatorial practices, ecological research, island imaginaries, and cross-disciplinary knowledge sharing. Its mission involves fostering cultural diversity and cultivating interdisciplinary creativity to contribute to innovation within the arts sector and broader social progress. The work of SUAVEART involves exploring environmental, nonhuman perspectives, and nonplace issues within island contexts. This research-driven approach manifests through a variety of outputs, including artworks, publications, and curatorial event productions for exhibitions and performances. Key thematic areas include ecological linkages, sustainable practices, and the intersection of art, science, and life. As a pioneer in experimental practices, SUAVEART advances dialogue between local and international networks through conceptual design and experimental projects. SUAVEART is an active member of international initiatives focused on climate change and cultural heritage, such as the Climate Heritage Network and Europa Nostra. Their projects, such as 'Food as Cultural Landscape' and 'Camphor Tree as Living Archive,' exemplify their commitment to nature-based approaches and participatory art. Through these transnational collaborations, workshops, and forums, the organization strives to empower individuals and communities to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future. By embracing methodologies that transcend disciplinary boundaries, SUAVEART continues to write a collective history of art and culture from its base in Taiwan toward global communities.
