Stephen Rybacki Contemporary Mixed Media and Texture Art

Stephen Rybacki is a dedicated contemporary artist and mixed media specialist currently based in La Verne, California. After earning his Bachelor of Fine Arts from California Polytechnic University Pomona in 2009, Stephen Rybacki focused on developing his technical hand skills in painting and sculpting. His artistic journey led him to discover a profound interest in the surface qualities of his work, eventually specializing in the use of sheet metal as a primary support. Under the mentorship of local artist Fr. Bill Moore, Stephen Rybacki spent over a decade perfecting techniques to control and integrate natural rust and oxidation into his compositions. His portfolio includes a diverse range of figurative and abstract pieces that highlight the delicate textures and evolving colors of oxidized metal. Stephen Rybacki has exhibited his work in numerous galleries across the United States, including TAG Gallery in Los Angeles and Mriya Gallery in New York, as well as internationally in Barcelona, Spain. His work often breaks boundaries of scale, featuring large-format pieces that emphasize the physical presence of his materials. Beyond his studio practice, Stephen Rybacki maintains a balance between his creative pursuits and his role as a gymnastics coach, finding inspiration in the oxidized objects and industrial scraps he encounters in daily life.
