Spazio Tadini Cultural Center and Multidisciplinary House Museum

Casa Museo Spazio Tadini is a living house museum in the heart of Milan (via Jommelli, 24) dedicated to the legacy of Emilio Tadini — painter, writer, intellectual, and one of the most original voices of the Italian twentieth century. Located in the former headquarters of the Grafiche Marcelli & Co. publishing house, once owned by the Tadini family, the space preserves an important chapter of Milan’s cultural and editorial history (www.spaziotadini.com). After Emilio Tadini’s death in 2002, the house was transformed into a dynamic cultural center by Francesco Tadini and Melina Scalise. Today it remains both an habited home and an active artistic hub, hosting exhibitions, concerts, performances, and educational programs. The lower floor includes Francesco Tadini’s photographic studio, while Emilio Tadini’s former studio presents curated photography exhibitions. The upper floor is entirely dedicated to Tadini’s paintings, offering insight into the evolution of his visual language. Defined by Umberto Eco as “the painter who writes and the writer who paints,” Tadini developed a unique artistic language blending myth, fairy tale, philosophy, and contemporary anxieties. His works explore existential themes through symbolic objects, recurring motifs such as light and houses, and a constant dialogue between word and image. The museum preserves not only his artworks but also his intellectual spirit, inviting visitors to reflect on the human condition in a space where art continues to live and generate dialogue.
