SKNYPL Collaborative Architectural and Spatial Design Studio

SKNYPL is a Moscow-based collaborative office founded in 2018 by a group of four architects and artists. The studio operates at the intersection of architecture, spatial design, furniture design, and filmmaking. The name SKNYPL is a self-defined term, with its meaning evolving through each project the team undertakes. The office gained international recognition for its experimental approach, particularly with inflatable structures and sensory environments. One of their most notable projects is the New Korean Garden, an inflatable ETFE proposal designed for the roof of the Seoul Hall of Urbanism and Architecture. This project reimagines the traditional Korean garden as a flexible, mobile, and multifunctional space, utilizing helium-filled elements and luminous paint to create a living organism that interacts with the city. Other significant works include Ann's Apartment, a 50-square-meter residential renovation in Moscow featuring stainless steel partitions, and pavilions for Russian Creativity Week. SKNYPL has been recognized in various international competitions and exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale’s Russian Pavilion and the London Festival of Architecture. Their practice emphasizes sustainability, flexibility, and the use of modern materials to challenge conventional notions of space. By merging diverse disciplines, SKNYPL continues to define its unique architectural language through projects that range from small-scale interiors to large-scale public landmarks in cities like Seoul and Moscow.
