Rimma - Multidisciplinary Artist and Contemporary Creator
Rimma is a multidisciplinary artist based in Paris, France, who began her professional artistic practice in 2021 after a decade-long career in the fashion industry. Born in 1986 in Yakutsk, Russia, Rimma was raised under the strong influence of Tatar culture, which remains a central pillar of her creative world. Her work serves as a profound conversation with memory—personal, cultural, and collective—translating both tender and traumatic experiences into evocative visual forms with emotional honesty. Her artistic language spans a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, collage, installation, and photography. Rimma often utilizes symbols such as flowers, female figures, textiles, and animal forms, particularly the fox, to act as silent witnesses and containers of meaning. Notable series include PVTS, which uses the poppy as a metaphor for childhood memories in Tatar villages, and 'I Paint Notself,' where she reclaims canonical women from art history. Rimma has held solo exhibitions such as 'An Army of One' in Paris and the 'PVTS Series' in Katzow, Germany. Her work is held in private collections internationally across France, Germany, Switzerland, the United States, and Russia, reflecting her commitment to preserving cultural heritage while exploring contemporary identity.
