Prin Rodriguez: Visual Narratives & Experimental Photography

Prin Rodriguez is an acclaimed photographer based in Lima, Peru, whose artistic practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of identity, family legacy, and collective memory. Her work often utilizes experimental and sensory narratives to bridge the gap between individual experiences and broader historical contexts, particularly within the Andean imaginary. As a co-founder of the Pariacaca collective, Prin Rodriguez has been instrumental in preservation projects like Archivo Harawi: 50 Years of Visual Anthropology in Cusco. Her photographic series, such as Alicia and Sons of Pariacaca, investigate themes of migration, indigenous roots, and the preservation of feminine legacy. Rodriguez’s visual style is characterized by a deliberate blurring of the lines between reality and fantasy, often employing constructed narratives and distinct visual strategies to challenge and shift viewer perceptions. Her contributions to the field have been recognized by prestigious institutions, including the Prince Claus Fund, the World Press Photo 6x6 Global Talent Program, and the VII Mentor Program. Prin Rodriguez has exhibited her work internationally, with notable presentations at the Bienal de Fotografa de Porto and publications in titles like the British Journal of Photography and GUP Magazine. Through her lens, she advocates for a new vision of Peru that honors ancestral knowledge while addressing contemporary social complexities.
