Pascale Morelot-Palu Contemporary Abstract Painter and Artist

Pascale Morelot-Palu is a French contemporary painter known for her evocative works in gestural abstraction. Born in Paris in 1956 and currently based in Nantes, she transitioned from a long and successful career in architecture to dedicate herself fully to painting in 2018. Her studio is located at 3 place de la Nation in Nantes. Her work is deeply rooted in the materials she uses, primarily acrylics sculpted on canvas to create depth and texture. Her style draws comparisons to masters of abstract expressionism such as Pierre Soulages and Franz Kline. Themes often center around 'the walls' (Les murs), exploring the hidden, the unconscious, and the interplay between light and shadow. Significant series include 'Sérénité', 'Pulse', 'Renouveau', and 'Un souffle le mur', each demonstrating a powerful use of color and mass balance. Her process often involves 'organized chaos', where accidental marks and metamorphic stains are transformed into poetic compositions. Through her paintings, she invites reflection on memory, time, and emotion. Morelot-Palu has exhibited widely across France, including solo shows at Art-Scène Gallery in Paris and Galerie Saint-Amour in Beaujeu. Her works are also recognized internationally, with past exhibitions in Shanghai. She is a member of ADAGP and her work is documented in a monograph published by Art3 Nantes. Her creative journey is marked by a transition from designing external spaces as an architect to exploring internal landscapes through the medium of paint.
