Olga Ermol | Contemporary Fibre Artist

Olga Ermol is a contemporary fibre artist and designer based between Lisbon, Portugal, and Florence, Italy. With roots in Ukraine, her artistic practice is centered on the creation of bold, abstract thread compositions and sculptural works that function as emotional environments rather than simple images. Olga Ermol holds a comprehensive multi-disciplinary background, having studied Graphic Design at Winchester School of Art, Sustainable Thinking at Goldsmiths, and Interior Design at Scuola Politecnica di Design. Her work is deeply influenced by Latin American Modernism, mid-century architecture, and color theory, specifically drawing from the emotional color palettes found in the works of Luis Barragán and Joseph Albers. Through a meticulous and tactile process involving thread and fibre, she explores how color shapes atmosphere and evokes memory beyond rational thought. Her canvases are designed to invite viewers into a space of stillness and intuition, balancing the dualities of chaos and calm, structure and movement. Beyond her signature thread art and nomadic loops, Olga Ermol also engages with painting and sculpture, maintaining a consistent focus on the search for clarity and atmospheric depth. Her work has been featured in various exhibitions, reflecting her unique expertise in transforming visual narratives into immersive, textured experiences that resonate with personal and collective memory.
