Massimo Sansavini Contemporary Art and Resin Sculpture

Massimo Sansavini is an influential Italian artist and sculptor based in Forlì, renowned for his mastery of wood technology and industrial resins. Born in 1961, Sansavini’s artistic evolution began at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna, where he specialized in the use of industrial resins applied to art—a technique that has since become a hallmark of his career. His work effectively bridges the gap between sculpture and painting, utilizing vibrant colors and lacquered wooden interlocking pieces to create depth and texture. Sansavini's international career was propelled by a three-year residency in Brazil, initiated by an invitation from the director of the São Paulo Art Biennial. During this time, he collaborated with legendary architect Oscar Niemeyer and exhibited at major institutions like the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes in Rio de Janeiro. His portfolio includes the poignant 'Touroperator' project, which utilized wood salvaged from migrant boats in Lampedusa, garnering the high patronage of the European Parliament. Beyond traditional galleries, Massimo Sansavini has left a significant mark on Italian culture through his work in design and media. He has contributed extensively to RAI television as a set designer, notably creating the visual backdrop for the popular Paolo Fox horoscope segments for over fourteen years. His creative versatility is further demonstrated through collaborations with the fashion house Enrico Coveri, for whom he designed fashion and furniture collections. With a history of exhibitions spanning the Venice Biennale to the National Museum of China, Massimo Sansavini continues to push the boundaries of contemporary sculpture and social commentary.
