Maria Saba: Visual Artist and Fine Art Photographer
Maria Saba is a contemporary visual artist based in Paris, France, whose practice encompasses photography, performance, and multimedia installation. Born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1996, she began her artistic journey through self-portraiture before formalizing her studies at the University of Bordeaux, where she earned both a Bachelor and a Master of Visual Arts. Her research is deeply rooted in the exploration of self-representation within states of confinement, a theme she has pursued through academic study and practical workshops, notably within the French prison system. Maria Saba has gained international recognition for her work, with notable solo exhibitions such as "Le Temps qui passe..." at Tintera Gallery and "The Last War" at Beit El Sura Gallery. Her participation in collective exhibitions includes high-profile events like Art Cairo at the Grand Egyptian Museum and the Cairo International Art District. In addition to her studio practice, Maria Saba is an active educator and lecturer, sharing insights on the social impact of photography at venues like Gouna Photo Week and Cairo Photo Week. Her multimedia approach continues to challenge visual boundaries, blending traditional photography with modern digital and performative elements.
