Laurent Paillier is a distinguished contemporary dance photographer based in Paris, recognized for his profound ability to capture the essence of movement and the poetic energy of choreographic performance. With over 35 years of experience in the field, his career is marked by an extensive photothèque of more than 10,000 images documenting the evolution of dance and its most influential figures. Laurent Paillier has established long-standing collaborations with world-renowned choreographers such as Carolyn Carlson and Pina Bausch, documenting their creative processes and final performances with a unique blend of fine art and photojournalistic observation. His work is widely published and celebrated, notably with his book "Danser la Peinture," which was awarded the Grand Prix de la Critique in 2016. This project uniquely bridges the worlds of photography, dance, and visual arts by having choreographers interpret major painters through dance. Other significant projects include "La Danseuse et l'Enfant," exploring the intersection of motherhood and professional dance, and comprehensive series on "L'Opéra de Paris." His photographs have been exhibited in prestigious international venues, including the Théâtre National du Châtelet in Paris and the Agora Gallery in New York. Currently an artist-in-residence at Micadanses, Laurent Paillier continues to innovate within the genre, focusing on the human body's posture, gaze, and the suspension of time within the theatrical space. His artistic vision serves as a global reference for those seeking to understand the dynamic relationship between the lens and the stage.
