Juliette Sallin: Multidisciplinary Contemporary Artist and Sculptor

Juliette Sallin is a Geneva-based multidisciplinary artist whose practice revolves around the intersection of the human body, materiality, and the natural world. Born in 1980, she studied textile design in Florence and new media in Geneva and London. Sallin’s work is characterized by the use of natural inks she prepares herself from organic sources such as roots, bark, leaves, petals, and insect secretions. These pigments are applied to delicate silk, creating a dynamic dialogue between color, texture, and movement. Her installations, such as 'Spring Communion' and 'Of Leaf, Skin and Wind,' often invite sensory interaction, blending tactile and olfactory elements. Sallin’s artistic process is deeply somatic and spiritual, viewing plants as an extension of the body and blurring the boundaries between subject and environment. Much of her work is site-specific, allowing the biocenosis of a place to influence the final form. Her creations have been exhibited across Switzerland and the UK and are part of significant collections in Europe and North America. As a sustainable artist, she focuses on ecological consciousness, utilizing vegetal cosmogonies to explore themes of mortality, regeneration, and the more-than-human world.
