Marina Testino: Creative Direction for Sustainable Fashion and Artivism
Marina Testino is a leading creative director, strategist, and sustainability advocate, often referred to as an "artivist." Based in New York, she focuses on using creative expression to promote conscious consumerism and circularity within the fashion industry. Marina Testino gained global recognition for her breakthrough activation, #OneDressToImpress, during which she wore the same red pantsuit for sixty days to challenge the stigma of outfit repeating and the environmental impact of fast fashion. This project marked a pivotal shift in her career, leading her to work exclusively with brands that align with her values of environmental and social responsibility. Since graduating from Parsons School of Design, Marina Testino has established a diverse portfolio that includes roles such as Director of Strategic Partnerships at Earth Partner and Sustainability Editor at Beyond Noise. Her work often involves high-level collaborations with organizations like the United Nations and Greenpeace, as well as luxury brands like Stella McCartney and Gucci. Her campaigns, including #YellowLikeALemon and #WeSeaThrough, utilize social media and immersive installations to educate consumers about microplastics and the four pillars of sustainable fashion: simplify, second-hand, sustainably sourced, and shared. In addition to her campaign work, Marina Testino serves as the Global Sustainability Ambassador for Jaipur Living and is a contributor to Vogue Mexico. She continues to leverage her background in modeling and fashion marketing to create aspirational content that proves sustainability can be stylish and colorful. Through her exhibitions like re:FRAME and her interview series Green Noise, she highlights the intersection of art, technology, and environmental stewardship, aiming to inspire a systemic reset of global consumption habits.
