Architecture et Mécanismes | Innovative Studio for Architectural Design

Architecture et Mécanismes is a Lebanese multidisciplinary design studio co-founded by sisters Céline and Tatiana Stephan. Drawing from their extensive backgrounds in architecture and fine arts, the duo explores the intersections of systems and scales to produce functional objects, bespoke furniture, and evocative architectural installations. Céline Stephan, an American University of Beirut alumna, and Tatiana Stephan, a graduate of the Académie Libanaise des Beaux Arts, established the studio in Beirut to investigate how architectural precision can be applied to diverse design mediums. The studio's portfolio includes acclaimed works such as the Think Tank lighting project, developed in collaboration with House of Today, and the Beirut Narratives urban installation, which addressed the collective memory of the city following the 2020 explosion. Their design philosophy often manifests in the Mécanismes series, where they transform technical elements—like electrical switches—into crafted works of art. By bridging the gap between small-scale product design and large-scale spatial interventions, Architecture et Mécanismes has become a prominent voice in the contemporary Lebanese design scene. Their work has been featured in major exhibitions, including the Beirut Design Fair, Design Days Dubai, and the Sursock Museum, reflecting their commitment to craftsmanship and narrative-driven design.
