Ann McIntyre: Contemporary Geometric Monotypes and Printmaking
Ann McIntyre is a Dallas, Texas-based artist whose professional practice bridges traditional Japanese aesthetics with contemporary Western printmaking. After earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and Ceramics from Southern Methodist University, Ann McIntyre spent a formative year in Japan apprenticing under the master porcelain ceramicist Koichi Takita in Aizu Wakamatsu. This experience, combined with her training as an instructor in the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, deeply informs her focus on geometric monotypes and works on paper. For over a decade, Ann McIntyre has maintained a dual practice in printmaking and oil painting, producing unique monotypes characterized by meticulous textures and patterns. Her work has received significant recognition within the art community, including the Best in Show award at the Art in the Metroplex competition and inclusion in juried exhibitions selected by curators from the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art. Based in Dallas, she continues to push the boundaries of her medium, blending her professional background in strategic leadership with a disciplined and award-winning artistic career. Her studio work reflects a mastery of process and a commitment to the evolution of contemporary printmaking.
