Victoria Pham's creative work

Victoria Pham: Composer and Interdisciplinary Sound Artist Researcher

Victoria Pham is a multifaceted Australian-Vietnamese artist, composer, and researcher whose practice is deeply rooted in the exploration of sound, ecology, and decoloniality. Currently a PhD researcher at the University of Cambridge, Victoria Pham works at the intersection of contemporary art and biological anthropology. She is the founder of EARTHLY FUTURES STUDIO, a Paris-based acoustic ecology and bio-design studio. Victoria Pham is widely recognized for her innovative work in bio-sonification, where she translates biological data from living organisms into complex soundscapes. Her research-led approach frequently involves archaeo-acoustics and the study of historical sound cultures, particularly within the context of Southeast Asian heritage and museum practices. As a composer, Victoria Pham has seen her work performed globally, often blending traditional acoustic elements with experimental electronic processes. Based between Paris and Sydney, she creates immersive installations and performances that invite audiences to reconsider their sensory relationship with the environment and the archival past. Her work has been commissioned and exhibited by prestigious institutions including Tate Britain, the Sydney Opera House, and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Victoria Pham continues to work as a sound practitioner and editor, investigating the symbiotic connections between nature and historical narratives.
