Tia Balacey: Acrobatic Dance and Contemporary Circus Performance

Tia Balacey is a French circus artist and acrodancer whose practice is rooted in the exploration of the body's mechanisms and its relationship with space. Born in the Landes region and of Malagasy heritage, Tia Balacey graduated from the Centre National des Arts du Cirque (CNAC) in 2020. Since then, the artist has established a significant presence in the contemporary performing arts scene, working with renowned organizations such as Compagnie L’oublié(e) under the direction of Raphaëlle Boitel. Tia Balacey's work is characterized by a poetic acrobatics that transcends the traditional boundaries between circus and dance. The artist focuses on fluidity, gravity, and the search for a temporary verticality, often performing in multidisciplinary productions like Ombres Portées and Le Cycle de l’Absurde. Beyond individual performance, Tia Balacey is an author and collaborator on various creative projects that integrate visual arts, cinema, and live performance. The artist's approach is deeply instinctive, viewing the body as both a tool and a window for projection. Based in France, Tia Balacey continues to evolve her practice through international tours, workshops, and upcoming creations like Mermaids, scheduled for 2027.
