Katie Graham: Visual Storytelling through Hand Embroidery and Textile Art
Katie Graham is a self-taught fiber artist based in Midwest City, Oklahoma, operating her creative studio under the name Threaded Fables LLC. Born in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1998, Katie Graham specializes in visual storytelling through the intricate mediums of hand embroidery and fabric applique. Her artistic practice focuses on the creation of what she terms 'threaded fables'—detailed embroidered collages that explore deep archetypal themes, spiritual imagery, and the organic beauty of landscapes and plant life. Katie Graham is widely recognized for her evocative series 'The Story of Night & Day,' a project that explores the internal journey of hyper-independence and the discovery of nurturing love. Another notable collection is her 'Hoppy Hobby Frogs,' which consists of unique, hand-sewn fiber art plushies designed to bring whimsy and joy into everyday spaces. Her work has been exhibited extensively throughout central Oklahoma at venues such as Mainsite Gallery, Goldfang Gallery, and DNA Gallery. In 2025, Katie Graham received the Emerging Artist ribbon at the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts. Her work, which lies between vulnerable self-exploration and imaginative play, has been featured in the Oklahoma Women’s Journal and the OU Daily, marking her as a significant voice in contemporary textile art.
