Fang Jingjing: Contemporary Surrealist Art and Limited Edition Prints

Fang Jingjing is a Chinese contemporary artist born in 1991 in Putian, Fujian Province. A graduate of Jiangxia College in Fuzhou, her artistic practice is deeply rooted in observation and a surrealist approach to social environments. Fang Jingjing is best known for her series "Bad Temper," which utilizes elements of humor, totems, and narrative compositions to investigate the contradictions and conflicts inherent in human nature and its relationship with environmental culture. Her work often draws inspiration from the primitive vitality of nature—rocks, soil, and water—while maintaining a sense of dark humor. Since 2015, Fang Jingjing has been a member of the China Designers Association (CDA) and has received multiple accolades, including gold, silver, and copper awards in the China Creative Design Yearbook. Her creative process involves repeated questioning of the surreal world, resulting in pieces characterized by gravity, cohesion, and solidity. Based in Putian, Fang Jingjing continues to produce limited edition prints and paintings that challenge viewers to reflect on the meaning of life and the inequalities of existence. Her influences range from filmmakers like Andrei Tarkovsky and Akira Kurosawa to artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Antoni Tàpies.
