Sylvain Willenz's creative work

Sylvain Willenz | Award-Winning Industrial and Furniture Design Studio

Sylvain Willenz is a highly influential designer based in Brussels, Belgium, who has been operating his independent design office since 2004. Born in 1978 and educated at the Royal College of Art in London, he has developed a signature style characterized by a strong yet simple graphic aesthetic. This approach is heavily influenced by his early interest in becoming a cartoonist, leading to the development of a singular 'ligne claire' style that informs his diverse body of work. Throughout his career, Sylvain Willenz has demonstrated a profound fascination with production, manufacturing, and industrial processes, ensuring that every piece—whether a piece of furniture, a lighting fixture, or a textile—is both functional and visually striking. His portfolio includes collaborations with some of the most prestigious names in the design world, such as Hay, Muuto, Established & Sons, and CVL Luminaires. Notable projects include the TORCH lighting collection and the Rebar series. Recognized as Belgian Designer of the Year in 2009, his works are held in the permanent collections of major museums, including the Design Museum of Brussels and the Vitra Haus. The studio's commitment to quality and the intelligent use of materials continues to define its progressive contribution to contemporary design.
