Sam Rockman's creative work

Sam Rockman is a London-based music and portrait photographer.

Sam Rockman is a London-based photographer and visual artist working across music, portrait, and documentary photography. Drawn to the raw energy of live performance and the quiet moments behind it, his work focuses on atmosphere, connection, and the human stories that exist around music. Whether shooting on film or digital, Sam creates images that feel immediate, intimate, and emotionally charged. He works closely with musicians, labels, and creative teams on editorial portraits, live coverage, campaigns, and short-form video, while continuing to develop personal projects that explore identity, community, and creative culture. His photographs have appeared in publications including Wonderland, Kerrang, and Clash, and he has documented major festivals such as Glastonbury and Download, capturing both the scale of the stage and the moments in between. In 2023, Sam was a finalist in two categories at the Abbey Road Music Photography Awards and completed a residency with Abbey Road Studios. His debut solo exhibition, So Far, So Good, explored the relationship between artists and audiences, followed by the group exhibition Are We There Yet? at Camden Open Air Gallery, reflecting on the realities of creative life. Alongside photography, Sam directs music videos and short documentaries, bringing the same documentary instinct and visual sensitivity into moving image. He is available for commissions across the UK and internationally.
