Serge Strosberg: Contemporary Oil Painting and Palm Beach Portraits
Serge Strosberg is a Belgian-born American painter who resides and works in Palm Beach, Florida. Trained by German Expressionist Joerg Hermle and educated at the Academie Julian and the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Strosberg brings a sophisticated morphological understanding to his portraiture. His artistic practice is deeply rooted in human connection, often spending significant time with subjects to capture their true essence beyond mere likeness. His notable "Reimagining Palm Beach" project includes the playful and satirical "Monkeying Around Palm Beach" series, which uses the historical figure of Johnnie Brown, Addison Mizner’s pet monkey, as a narrative avatar for the local community. Strosberg’s portfolio also features oil portraits of historical Florida figures such as Henry Flagler and Marjorie Merriweather Post, blending history with a contemporary artistic vision. His works are held in over 180 private and public collections worldwide and have been featured in numerous gallery and museum exhibitions across the United States, Europe, and Asia, including the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County and the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens.
