Proyect.IN | Artistic Platform Connecting Art and Health
Proyect.IN is a specialized non-profit organization and artistic platform that operates at the intersection of contemporary art and the medical experience of cancer. Founded by acclaimed artists Marina Vargas and Evelyn Joyce, both of whom have faced the disease personally, Proyect.IN was established to challenge the stigma, silence, and isolation often associated with a cancer diagnosis. The platform functions as a vital space for creative resistance, allowing artists to maintain their professional visibility and expressive output during and after treatment. By integrating visual arts, performance, and research, Proyect.IN works to reshape the cultural imaginary of illness into one of presence and connection. The organization provides two distinct annual grants: one for artistic production and another for archival research, supporting creators and scholars who explore themes of the body, health, and vulnerability. Launched in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, Spain, Proyect.IN emphasizes that artistic creation is a powerful tool for survival and collective memory. Its activities include a living archive, sensory performances, and multidisciplinary workshops that foster a hopeful and humanized dialogue about health and resilience. Through its commitment to sensitivity and artistic excellence, Proyect.IN serves as a pioneering cultural institution that validates the experiences of those living with cancer while enriching the contemporary art landscape with profound narratives of resilience.
