Proseterity - International Literary and Art Magazine for Critical Inquiry
Proseterity is an independent, international literary and art magazine based in India. Founded in 2021 by Aastha D, the organization serves as a platform for radical empathy, critical thought, and intersectional inquiry. It thrives on challenging the status quo and exploring alternative imagined futures through a variety of formats, including essays, reviews, visual art, poetry, interviews, and photography. The publication is deeply committed to amplifying voices of dissent and stories that use the personal to speak to the collective, fostering discussions that transgress normative boundaries. In addition to its publishing efforts, Proseterity operates an educational vertical known as Critiqala. This initiative functions as a playground for critical thinking and cultural conversation, offering workshops, reading circles, and creative labs. Critiqala provides a space for writers, artists, students, and researchers to engage deeply with literature, film, and design. These programs emphasize close reading and critical reflection, moving away from rapid hot takes to cultivate a more rigorous cultural imagination. Proseterity values original, previously unpublished work and maintains a transparent remuneration policy for its contributors. The editorial team, which includes Art Director Joseph Sgambati III and Creative Associates Aditi Padhi and Rohit Rajak, brings backgrounds in architecture, journalism, and social research to the publication's diverse themes. Themes such as Rage, Faith, and Mediocrity illustrate the magazine's dedication to tackling complex social and psychological landscapes. By merging art, literature, and education, the organization builds a growing community of thinkers who are unafraid to pose new questions and subvert established forms of power.
