Luca Primavesi | Photographer: Uncovering stories beneath the surface through a unique lens.

As a photographer, I am on a constant journey of discovery, searching for beauty in all its diverse forms. My unique perspective is shaped by my professional experience working on archaeological excavations, where I document the meticulous process of discovery and the artefacts that emerge from the earth. This background has taught me to look beneath the surface and to view every modern scene as a layer of history in the making. This "archaeological" precision carries over into my monochrome street photography, a style I define as the "Geometry of Silence." I am drawn to the profound depth found within the infinite shades of grey—a palette that enables me to eliminate the distractions of colour and focus on pure form. In my photographs, I seek to create a metaphysical atmosphere, transforming ordinary street corners into spaces for quiet contemplation and reflection. I am particularly fascinated by public spaces. When I capture these large communal environments inhabited by a solitary figure, I see a poignant metaphor for contemporary life: although we are connected by shared structures, we are often alone on our journeys. My work is also defined by the human connection; I am passionate about unstaged portraits, especially those taken during daily work. My approach is simple: I ask for a smile, seeking brief, authentic interactions that honour the dignity of the present moment. I don't just record what is there; I uncover the stories that lie beneath.
