Philippe Wassenberg: Interdisciplinary Design and Visual Communication

Philippe Wassenberg is an interdisciplinary designer based in Leipzig, Germany. His creative practice is defined by a fluid approach that navigates between graphic design, type design, photography, illustration, and material-based methods. Wassenberg's work is fundamentally rooted in visual communication, driven by an inquiry into how design can shape human perception and evoke emotional resonance. He received his education in Integrated Design at Hochschule Anhalt in Dessau and is currently furthering his expertise in type design at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig. Wassenberg's portfolio includes diverse projects such as the 'Luminous Tile,' a functional architectural element designed to interact with its environment. This project utilizes high-fired ceramics and plaster to create a light source that physically moves and adjusts its brightness in response to human presence, bridging the gap between functional building components and interactive art. Another significant work is 'Crossing the Alps,' a photo documentary that explores the visual relationship between smartphone photography and traditional digital capture during a journey through the mountains. Working across academic and practical spheres, Philippe Wassenberg collaborates with those who value craftsmanship and intentional design. He offers professional services in visual communication and is fluent in German, French, and English.
