Patrizia Polese: International Fiber Artist & Contemporary Tapestry Designer

Patrizia Polese is an international fiber artist and contemporary tapestry designer based in Carbonera, Treviso, Italy. Operating out of NAM ATELIER, her artistic practice is defined as an alchemy of absence and presence, where she explores the 'void' and the interconnectedness of all things. Patrizia Polese uses various media, including two- and three-dimensional weaving, experiential installations, photography, and drawing to create a common sensory language among plants, minerals, animals, and humans. Her research into innovative and sustainable materials has led to significant commissions and collaborations, such as the permanent installation 'Present' for Gruppo Unipol in Milan and the site-specific project 'The Human Jungle' for AXA IM Group. She often incorporates recycled materials like denim waste and Econyl® yarn into her pieces, highlighting environmental and social sustainability. Patrizia Polese has also shared her expertise through workshops and lectures at institutions like the University of Illinois and the Krannert Art Museum. Furthermore, she participated in the Dynamo Art Factory project, utilizing weaving as a therapeutic and meditative tool for social inclusion. Her work has been showcased at venues like the Milan Triennale and the Dino Zoli Foundation, reflecting her significant contribution to the evolution of contemporary Italian tapestry.
