Clara Arpini: Hand-Crafted Weaving and Custom Furniture Design
Clara Arpini is a self-taught Italian artisan and designer who founded her studio, NODO, in 2014 in Cassano d’Adda, Milan. With a background in humanities, Clara Arpini transitioned her lifelong passion for manual crafts into a professional practice centered on the art of weaving. Her work is characterized by an innovative approach to traditional techniques like impagliatura and tessitura, which she applies directly to furniture structures to create distinctive, tactile objects. In her creations, Clara Arpini utilizes a wide range of materials, with a particular affinity for polypropylene fiber due to its durability and vibrant color possibilities, alongside various natural fibers. Her portfolio includes a diverse array of home furnishings, such as chairs, stools, rugs, and lampshades, each reflecting her commitment to Artistic Craftsmanship. Every piece is meticulously handmade, often as a result of a direct dialogue with clients to ensure a custom fit for their living spaces. Clara Arpini’s aesthetic is defined by an exploration of color contrasts and geometric patterns, resulting in furniture that is both functional and expressive. By reviving old structures and designing new ones, she bridges the gap between heritage skills and modern interior design sensibilities. Her studio in Località Lido serves as a dedicated workshop where she continues to refine the dialogue between tradition and contemporary form.
