Nicoletta de la Brown: Interdisciplinary Performance and Visual Artist

Nicoletta de la Brown is a Baltimore-born interdisciplinary artist, curandera chamána, and wellness educator whose work bridges contemporary art and ancestral storytelling. Identifying as a "healing artist," her practice is deeply rooted in her Panamanian heritage and a lineage of healers. Nicoletta de la Brown utilizes performance, film, sculpture, and sensory experiences to facilitate spaces for radical self-care and collective wellness. Her projects, such as "Neutral Buoyancy" during her residency at the National Aquarium, explore the transformative power of water and its connection to memory and equilibrium. She is the founder of Vida Mágica Love, a creative platform dedicated to spiritual fitness and mindfulness. Nicoletta de la Brown’s work often centers on the Black maternal experience, utilizing ritual as a tool for reclamation and social change. Her immersive activations have been presented at prestigious institutions including The Smithsonian and The Kennedy Center. By weaving together fiber manipulation, new media, and ancient rituals, she creates a dialogue between the past and present, inviting audiences to engage in vulnerability and self-awareness. Her commitment to community-based art is further demonstrated through her roles as an educator and fellow at institutions like Johns Hopkins University and the Baltimore School for the Arts.
