Morii Design Contemporary Textile Art and Indian Heritage Craft

Morii Design is an Ahmedabad-based textile design studio founded by Brinda Dudhat, a National Institute of Design (NID) alumna. The studio is dedicated to bridging the gap between traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary visual aesthetics. Since its inception in 2019, Morii Design has evolved from a garment-focused label into a prominent textile art practice. The studio is best known for its "library of stitches," an extensive catalog of embroidery techniques and combinations sourced from various craft clusters across Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Bihar. Collaborating with a network of over 160 artisans across 12 villages, Morii Design empowers rural communities while ensuring the preservation of heritage techniques such as Sujni embroidery, Rabari craft, and Jat Bharath. Under the creative leadership of Brinda and co-founder Kabir, who oversees the graphic and branding direction, the studio creates original, one-of-a-kind wall hangings and wearable art characterized by abstract, undulating lines and modern compositions. Their work has been featured in high-profile corporate projects and luxury interiors, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and soul-driven design. By transforming traditional panels into fine art, Morii Design provides a new visual language for ancient crafts, making them relevant for global contemporary spaces in Gandhinagar and beyond.
