Meireles de Pinho is a versatile contemporary artist and sculptor based in Porto, Portugal, whose practice is defined by a deep exploration of drawing and the spatial dynamics of sculpture. Having completed his studies in Fine Arts and Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (FBAUP) in 1993, he furthered his education at the University of Seville and later obtained a Master’s degree in Art and Design for Public Space. Since 1988, Meireles de Pinho has been an active figure in the Portuguese art scene, participating in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His creative portfolio is characterized by a reverberation of thinking, acting and expressing through drawing, which serves as a foundational analytical process for all his visual endeavors. Meireles de Pinho is well-regarded for his public space interventions and scenography, having collaborated with the MAARQA (micro atelier de arquitectura e arte) platform alongside architect Miguel Costa. Notable achievements in his career include his role as curator and organizer for Land Art Gaia and his work since 2019 in the design and development of magical productions for American magician David Copperfield. His work, such as the award-winning GiRA installation, demonstrates a commitment to play and symbolic representation within the city. Through his studio and collaborative projects, he remains a key contributor to the dialogue between art, architecture, and the community.
