Martin Rose - Award-winning Illustrator, Printmaker and Art-Educator.

Martin is a mixed-media illustrator, printmaker and art-educator based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire. He specialises in working with alcohol inks, RISO and linocut printing but also works in pen and ink and watercolour as well as digitally. His large studio serves as both his main place to create as well as teach a variety of 1:1 and small-group workshops. Martin teaches traditional alcohol ink painting in his own style, as well as linocut and RISO printing. Martin is fortunate to have his own RISO machine at his studio. Martin is a skilled window artist. Commercially he was commissioned three years in a row by the award-winning coffee shop Bob & Berts, where he drew Christmas window art to a specific brief across all of their shops in England. Martin is one of the Creative Mentors, one day each week for a special educational needs college, helping neurodivergent young people get into the creative industry. Recently Martin has led a community-based art project, responding to health and wellbeing data from neurodivergent young people and their families. This was in association with HDUK and Wayfinder Calderdale. The exhibition was well received and was displayed at the Elsie Whitely Centre for Innovation, Halifax. Martin's first solo exhibition 'FUSION' in 2023 showcased his versatile skillset. Here, Martin explored fusing unexpected styles of art. Notably, the four-piece collection he created for SANE that was shortlisted in 2022 for the finals of the Antalis Creative Power Awards. Martin has a new collection of work, being shown at Pontefract Castle, West Yorkshire. Martin is currently producing a new body of work informed by a short residency at the castle.
