Mark James is a distinguished multi-disciplinary artist and art director with a career spanning over 25 years. Based in Cardiff, Wales, his work seamlessly integrates graphic design, film, branding, and conceptual art. James is perhaps most recognized for his extensive tenure as the Art Director for Island Records, where he shaped the visual identities of legendary artists including U2, Queen, Amy Winehouse, and The Beatles. He has also maintained a collaborative partnership with Gruff Rhys and Super Furry Animals for over two decades, producing iconic album artwork and music videos. His creative practice, often operating under the identity *Subject To Change®, is characterized by a blend of humor, social commentary, and controversy. Notable projects include the viral "DirtyBird" logo, the "90th Anniversary" branding for Abbey Road Studios, and the immersive audio-visual installation "Under Neon Loneliness." James' work has been exhibited globally, from solo shows in Tokyo and London to the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
