Lance Herman is a highly accomplished South African musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-disciplinary artist who has become a staple of the Cape Town creative scene. His career is characterized by a deep integration of musicality, literary influence, and visual storytelling. Holding a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of Cape Town, Lance Herman brings a unique intellectual and lyrical depth to his work, which spans various genres from minimal folk to experimental indie-pop. His early career involved co-founding bands such as Dry Water and Fly Paper Jet, the latter earning significant recognition as runners-up in the Cape Town Battle of the Bands and performing at major venues like Kirstenbosch Gardens. Transitioning into solo artistry, Lance Herman developed projects such as ELIEZER, supported by a fellowship from the Institute for Creative Arts. This project explored minimal folk and romantic introspection, showcasing his ability to create meditative and emotionally resonant musical experiences. Under his own name, Lance Herman has released several successful tracks including 'Rollercoaster', 'Saturn', and 'My Lonely Heart'.
