Peng Ke: Contemporary Fine Art Photography and Visual Media
Peng Ke is a contemporary visual artist and photographer whose practice examines the intersections of urban transition, collective memory, and the human condition. Born in Changsha, China, and currently active between Shanghai and Los Angeles, Peng Ke earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2015. Her work is characterized by a deep engagement with the rapidly changing landscapes of urban China, particularly her hometown of Shenzhen. Through her lens, she documents the vibrant textures and social systems that define public and private spheres in modern cities. Peng Ke is the recipient of prestigious honors, including the Abigail Cohen Fellowship from the Magnum Foundation and the Hahnemühle New Talent Photography Award. Her notable projects include the photography book Salt Ponds and exhibitions such as Leaving Speed and Grand City. Her visual language often serves as an empathy mechanism, bridging the gap between personal narrative and the broader societal impacts of urbanization.
