Kenichi Murakami | Contemporary artist Oil paintings, drawings
Kenichi Murakami is really fine art and contemporary artist who mainly creates oil paintings and some drawings. He always works at his studio, which is historic old structure located in a corner of the city, Kurashiki, Japan. The structure was constructed nearly 100 years ago; about 30 years ago, it served as a sewing machine factory, and long before that, it was a billiards hall. He gathers ideas from magazine photos and other images. His paintings are mostly portraits, still lifes, and landscapes. He doesn’t seek novelty or eccentricity; instead, he strives to express the seemingly mundane and ordinary. Also make them flat and neutral. That is what makes his work innovative and it feels addicting. Since his first group exhibition in Chelsea, New York, in 2010. He has built some collectors around the world. he has been focused expanding his activities globally. You usually need an appointment to visit the studio, but if you happen to see it in town, feel free to knock on the door.
