JN MELLOR CLUB: Contemporary Art and Mixed Media Sculptures
JN MELLOR CLUB is a contemporary art and design practice founded by the creative duo Karine Arabian and Franck Blais. The studio’s work is characterized by a deep exploration of materiality, particularly the transformative use of precious leathers, discarded waste, and diverse textures to create sculptural objects and installations. JN MELLOR CLUB describes their output as 'totemic devices' and 'archaeological fragments,' bridging the gap between historical craftsmanship and avant-garde aesthetic expression. Notable projects within the JN MELLOR CLUB portfolio include the JN_PA4C-23 series of twenty-three sculptures and the JN_BS-05+3 series, which features fictional tools crafted from leather and fur. Their research-driven approach led them to a prestigious residency at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, where they studied traditional Japanese leather finishing and the rituals of the Tokonoma. This residency profoundly influenced their perspective on emotion and the spiritual dimensions of objects. In addition to their independent artistic series, JN MELLOR CLUB is recognized for their high-profile collaborations with international brands. They have created immersive window displays for Cartier locations in major cities, including Paris, London, Tokyo, and New York. Their ability to blend intricate handwork, such as leather tapestry and crystal bead weaving, with large-scale artistic direction makes JN MELLOR CLUB a unique voice in the intersection of luxury, craft, and contemporary art.
