Jaime Ayala's creative work

Jaime Ayala — Graphic Designer focused on editorial design, photography, and audiovisual culture

I am a professional graphic designer, specialized in layout and typographic design since my graduation project, which was developed around a typographic design methodology. Alongside design, my lifelong passion for music, the arts, and culture has shaped my career path. I began with classical guitar workshops in Chillan and later joined the Punk Rock/Hardcore band Mazoka between 1991 and 1994. During my adolescence, I participated in audiovisual and theater workshops, which led me to further explore artistic and cultural creation. While studying at university, I took jazz classes and formed a small blues and jazz group at the School of Architecture of Universidad del Bio-Bio in Concepcion. From that moment on, I became actively involved in cultural projects as both a creator and cultural manager. Between 2000 and 2004, I worked in music and cultural production on projects such as Rock al Sur del Mundo, Molotov, and South Sessions. From 2004 to 2009, I was part of the theater company Incunables, working as an audiovisual technician, photographer, and videographer, documenting performances and tours. Since 2014, I have worked professionally in photography and audiovisual production, developing photographic projects, music videos, and corporate videos. I have also worked as an artist-educator, leading audiovisual creation and appreciation workshops in schools. I have collaborated as a designer, layout artist, and audiovisual creator on editorial, cultural, and educational projects, received two regional Fondart grants for educational initiatives (2023-2024), and participated in several feature films as a production assistant and still photographer. Since 2016, I have been the webmaster of Chillanactivo.cl, a digital platform focused on culture and activism.
