Hiromi Kim | Innovative Sustainable Product Design and Art Portfolio
Hiromi Kim is a versatile designer and artist based in Kyoto, Japan, whose practice is deeply rooted in the philosophy of coexistence between humanity and the environment. Born and raised in the cultural heart of Kyoto, she later refined her craft in Italy, studying Interior Architecture at the Kyoto College of Art and Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano. This cross-cultural education informs her unique approach, blending meticulous Japanese craftsmanship with European design principles. In 2008, she established the HIROMI KIM DESIGN OFFICE, followed by the brand MOLFO in 2014, both of which serve as platforms for her exploration of sustainable materials. For over a decade, Hiromi Kim has championed the use of hemp as a primary medium, recognizing its historical significance in Japanese culture and its potential as a highly durable, eco-friendly resource. Her ZAMA series at BoConcept and her HEMP HEARTS art projects exemplify her ability to transform industrial materials into soulful expressions of modern lifestyle. Her portfolio extends across branding, graphic design, and product innovation, always prioritizing the genuine pleasure of the user while addressing the urgent need for environmental preservation. Through her work, Hiromi Kim seeks to offer gifts for the next generation, creating value that respects the earth’s resources and lights up the human spirit.
