Guendalina Urbani: Contemporary Installation and Sculpture

Guendalina Urbani is a prominent contemporary artist born in 1992, currently living and working in Rome. Her creative practice is primarily centered on sculpture and installation, where she crafts imaginary, contradictory, and ambiguous objects. Guendalina Urbani focuses her artistic research on the intricate relationship between perception—as a process of decoding the external world—and the realm of dreams. By blending residues of waking perception with dream-like states, she generates images that are simultaneously real and unreal. A defining characteristic of her work is the improbable combination of various materials, which subverts their traditional nature, static qualities, and identity. This approach encourages viewers to question their interpretations of reality. Since 2018, Guendalina Urbani has been an active member of the Spazio In Situ artist-run space in Rome, and since 2021, she has been represented by the Galleria Umberto Benappi in Turin. Her professional career is marked by significant accolades and exhibitions. In 2022, Guendalina Urbani won the Young Prize of the Lazio Region as the best artist under 35 at the Rome Arte in Nuvola fair. She has been a finalist for prestigious awards such as the Exibart Prize, JaguArt, and the Premio Celeste. Notable exhibition venues include the Gallery of Modern Art of Rome, Italy Sotheby's International Realty in Milan, and NP_ArtLab in Padua. Through her exhibitions like On Times (Paradise) Lost and LeviaGravia, Guendalina Urbani continues to explore conceptual depths, stimulating a dialogue between the viewer and the physical object.
