EYIBRA: Multidisciplinary Performance Artist and Choreographer
EYIBRA (formerly known as Abraham Brody) is a performance artist, multidisciplinary creator, and choreographer whose practice centers on the exploration of gender identity, power dynamics, and decolonial perspectives. Through their work, EYIBRA utilizes the human body as a site of transformation, addressing systems of oppression and themes of resilience and vulnerability. A former collaborator of Marina Abramović, EYIBRA has performed and exhibited globally at institutions such as the Barbican Centre, LACMA, and Pace Gallery. As a member of the MUXX collective, EYIBRA explores the intersection of queerness and emerging technologies, often collaborating with artists like Lukas Avendaño. Their projects, such as 'Veles/Тіні' and 'DOMINA', integrate 3D video technologies, experimental electronic music, and ancient ritual songs to create immersive environments. EYIBRA’s work frequently critiques neocolonialism and state violence, particularly as exercised on marginalized bodies. By blending electronic production with strings and vocal manipulation, EYIBRA evokes a sound world influenced by transformation and consciousness. Their exhibitions, including 'TRASHUMANCIA', challenge binary notions of identity and envision futuristic, non-patriarchal societies through transdisciplinary dialogue.
