Easttopics: Promoting Eastern European Contemporary Art
Easttopics is an interdisciplinary platform and think tank focused on the promotion and development of the contemporary art field in Eastern Europe. Established in Budapest in 2015, Easttopics acts as a bridge between regional art communities and the international art scene. The organization manages a comprehensive online database featuring artists, institutions, and publications from countries including Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Ukraine, among others. Beyond its digital presence, Easttopics operates a physical gallery space and a region-specific library to support local artistic dialogue. A core component of its mission is the East Call Curatorial Residency, which provides emerging curators with insights into the Hungarian and regional art landscapes through studio visits, networking, and research. By hosting international residency programs and publishing artistic research, Easttopics fosters cross-border cooperation and critical exchange. The platform was developed by Fruzsina Kígyós, Róna Kopeczky, and Alexandra Nagy to serve as an expanding resource for contemporary art professionals and researchers worldwide, emphasizing the cultural richness and diverse perspectives of the Central and Eastern European region.
