István Betuker is a prominent visual artist and academic living and working in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Born in 1984 in Satu-Mare, he has established himself as a significant figure in the contemporary art world, specifically within the renowned art community of Cluj. István Betuker holds a PhD in Painting from the University of Art and Design (UAD) Cluj-Napoca, where he has also served as a teacher since 2023. His artistic career is marked by a series of high-profile exhibitions across Europe, including solo shows such as Shifting Tides, Flow-State at Sector 1 Gallery in Bucharest, and Emotional Blackmail at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Dunaujvaros. Throughout his career, István Betuker has received critical acclaim, notably winning the LVMH Award in 2007 for the international competition "In Tribute to Yves Klein." His practice frequently bridges the gap between traditional painting and conceptual exploration, as seen in his participation in international group exhibitions at venues like the Kunsthalle Budapest and the Art-Capital Biennale in Szentendre. His work is represented in various galleries in Paris, Berlin, and Copenhagen, reflecting a diverse and evolving portfolio.
