Aziziah Diah Aprilya is an Indonesian photographer, artist, and writer whose practice is deeply rooted in documentary storytelling and rigorous research. Based in Makassar, South Sulawesi, her work investigates the complex intersections of urban space, communal memory, and the visible impacts of social and environmental shifts. Aziziah Diah Aprilya often focuses on her home town of Makassar, utilizing images, text, and collaborative frameworks to bring local narratives to a global audience. One of her most notable achievements is the long-term project Mattude, which earned her the prestigious Objectifs Documentary Award in 2024. This project examines the disappearing traditional practice of clam collecting in the Mariso area, threatened by massive coastal reclamation. In addition to her exhibition work, Aziziah Diah Aprilya published the acclaimed photo book Got Your Back in 2024 with SOKONG!, featuring a series of back portraits that reflect on the psychological relationship between individuals and their surrounding landscapes.
