Andrea Perez's creative work

Andrea Mae Perez: Filmmaker and Visual Artist

Andrea Mae Perez is a Spanish and American-Ecuadorian filmmaker, director, and photographer based in London. Born in Madrid, she earned a First Class Honours degree in Film and Television Production from the University of the Arts London. Her practice is characterized by a unique aesthetic that draws heavily from Latin American Magic Realism, Old Hollywood cinema, and experimental film. This influence is evident in her use of expressionistic color palettes and the exploration of distorted archetypes within her characters. Her portfolio includes the narrative short films Desert-ar and Rat King, the latter of which is currently in distribution. Perez has collaborated with a wide array of high-profile clients in the music and fashion industries, including Sony Music, Ninja Tune, Atlantic Records, and 3INA Makeup. Her photographic work, such as the Home of Fighters series documenting the community at Fightzone gym, has been featured in prestigious publications like British Vogue, Metal Magazine, and Kaltblut Magazine. Through her dual mastery of film and photography, Andrea Mae Perez creates immersive, narrative-driven worlds that frequently blur the boundaries between reality and fantasy, focusing on outcasts and the complexities of the human condition.
