Amit Machamasi is a distinguished photojournalist and visual artist based in Bhaktapur, Nepal. He is widely recognized for his profound dedication to storytelling through visual media, a career trajectory that gained significant momentum in 2020. His practice is characterized by an immersive approach, where he captures impactful moments across diverse subjects, including social issues, political developments, and cultural nuances. Machamasi’s work has gained international acclaim, featuring in prominent publications such as The Guardian, The Times UK, and The Wall Street Journal. Among his notable projects is 'Final Salute,' a poignant documentation of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact in Kathmandu, and 'A Walk By,' where he utilizes slow shutter techniques to depict the vibrant, bustling life of Bhaktapur. He has also been a featured artist in major international exhibitions and festivals, including ChobiMela in Bangladesh, Photo Kathmandu, and the Breda Photo Festival in the Netherlands. His involvement in the 'Take me to the River' exhibition highlights his focus on climate change and the resilience of communities living along Nepal's river basins.
