Adrian Flaherty painting of a Thames bridge

Adrian Flaherty | Contemporary Painting and Sculpture Works

Adrian Flaherty is a London-based visual artist whose work spans painting, sculpture, and film. He graduated from Camberwell College of Arts with a degree in Sculpture but has since focused extensively on painting. His practice is characterized by the integration of chance processes and the exploration of the concept of 'home.' Flaherty’s notable Home-Works project began as a series of interventions within his own living space, utilizing everyday materials and DIY techniques to create functional art and decor. This project evolved into broader environmental studies, such as his series of paintings depicting every bridge along the River Thames and his more recent coastal path project along the west coast of England. He frequently employs a combination of water-based and oil paints to create organic textures and unexpected visual effects, which he then refines with controlled details. His work has been exhibited in various galleries, including the Bethlem Museum of the Mind and the London Bridge OPEN, and is available through platforms like Saatchi Art. By contrasting the controlled environment of the home with the unpredictable nature of the outside world, Adrian Flaherty offers a unique perspective on urban and natural landscapes.
